Technology - Seattle Based Company Launches Social Networking Engine

Seattle Based "Dark Cloud Promotion" recently announced their social networking engine and claims it will change the face of Social Networking.

 

When we heard that another company was making another social networking tool we were extremely skeptical at first, to say the least. We dug deeper into the technology behind the unusually named "Dark Cloud Engine" and were relieved to discover it was not just another social network destined to fail like so many others. It is in fact not really a social network at all.

The Dark Cloud Engine simply connects all your social networks together enabling you to easily and quickly post to more than 50 well known social networks, bookmarking sites, and even FaceBook. The Dark Cloud Promotions team were pretty tight-lipped about the inner workings of the engine itself but they did say they were not trying to re-invent the wheel, just make it roll to more places.

They were nice enough to setup a Dark Cloud Engine account for Alpha NewsRoom at no cost so we could see it in action for ourselves. They asked us to send over the Social Networking sites we were already connected to and they built accounts for all the rest. To say that we were impressed would be an understatement. Once we received our initial login credentials we were able to go to a very familiar feeling wordpress interface where we found our News Site auto-populating without us ever even typing a single keystroke. Then we logged into a few of our main social networking interfaces and were even more surprised to find all the data from the newsroom site showing up there too. Then we thought we would just check the twitter feed while we were at it, and to our amazement we found microblog versions of our posts there too.

The Dark Cloud Promotion team sent us a complete list of the Social Networks they were feeding our information to with the Dark Cloud Engine and it actually totaled 51. Since then we have used the Dark Cloud Engine blog to write exclusive stories, share videos, photos and audio and it has run smooth as silk.

Naturally we were curious as to how this was made possible so we asked our resident technician/code monkey to dig into the service and see just what made the Dark Cloud Engine tick.

He found a custom built wordpress plug-in inside the blog that actually said "Dark Cloud Engine" right in the plug-in information, as well as some complex PHP that made server-side calls to the Dark Cloud Engine Server directly. Interestingly the build of plug-in installed in our Dark Cloud Engine wordpress was called "Omega". We think we get the reference and we couldn't agree more.

The Dark Cloud Promotion team has put together a really useful service that simplifies managing and posting to all your social networks at once. As if just having that wasn't enough we have seen an ample boost in our Google Presence as well moving all the way to the top spot for Alpha Newsroom out of millions of search results.
